5 Tips for Cleaning and Maintaining Ladies Shearling Slippers

A pair of shearling slippers is a delight and a luxury for anyone. If you don't take proper care of your beautiful shearling slippers, this luxury won't last long. There are many benefits to wearing shearling slippers, including comfort, style, and durability. However, shearling slippers need to be properly maintained and cleaned. Here are a few tips for proper maintenance of shearling slippers if you want to clean ladies shearling slippers.

Here are some of the things you should consider when maintaining and cleaning your slippers.

Use protective shield

Applying a protective coating to the exterior surface of your slippers is the first thing you should do to make sure they survive for years. Select a shield that is water and stain-resistant and made especially for use on suede or leather. Your slippers will be protected from water spotting and will be more resilient to soiling since a spray made of a non-silicone rain repellent is made to repel water. After spraying your slippers, all you need to do is wipe them clean with a moist cloth.

Brush

If you wear your shearling slippers outside, you may need to clean them from time to time to remove loose debris or dust. You can easily sweep away any loose dust or dirt by simply following the nap of the suede with a suede brush. After each usage, make sure to clean the brush.

Do not delay cleaning

Always wipe the stain or spot as soon as possible to avoid having to take your genuine ladies shearling slippers to a professional cleaner. The likelihood that you will be able to remove a stain after letting it sit for days is relatively low. Never use a strong cleaning chemical on your slippers because shearling is a natural material.

Clean the shearling in spots

You can use hair shampoo or a light detergent to remove a stain from the inside of your slippers. Simply use a rag, some cool water, and your cleaner to clean the surface. Blot the filthy area carefully while holding the cleaner in your hand. After rinsing, use a dry towel to wipe up any remaining water. Take caution not to let water seep through the suede. Other than using suede cleaner or conditioner, you can also use a greener method to clean.

Make sure the whole slipper is clean

Slippers made of shearling should never be cleaned in the washing machine. It is advised that you spend money on a shampoo made specifically for washing your shearling slippers because using anything else could reduce their longevity. You can use mild shampoo if this is not possible.

Apply the cleaner with a small cloth or soft fabric, making sure to scour each interior corner of the slipper. Make sure you apply the cleaner sparingly. Otherwise, it will be very challenging, if not impossible, to properly rinse the cleaner. After washing the inside of your slippers, thoroughly rinse them with clean, cool water to get rid of all the soap. After you have finished, let them air dry on a clean, dry towel. Keep them away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
